Do I need a license to register?

The Half Triathlon is open to all, licensed and non-licensed.

Non-licensed members must present a medical certificate stating that they are not contraindicated to practice :

- competitive triathlon less than one year old on the day of the event,
- competitive sport less than one year old on the day of the event,
- swimming, cycling and running in competition less than one year old on the day of the event.

The deadline for downloading the medical certificate is May 31, 2024.

Any application incomplete by June 5, 2024 will be cancelled and will not be reimbursed.


At what age can I participate?

The Half Triathlon is open to anyone aged 18 or over in the calendar year (born at least in 2006).

Can I participate in a team?

The race is individual and cannot be shared with others.

However, you can take part in the club challenge and benefit from a special rate: find out more.

What is the program of the event?


  • 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Opening of the partners' village and withdrawal of race numbers at the esplanade du lac in Saint-Jorioz
  • 04:00 - 06:00 pm : Drop off of personal bag ARRIVAL SEMNOZ at UCPA


  • 06:00 - 07:00 am : Half bibs collection
  • 06h00 - 8h00 am : Opening of the transition area to drop off your bike
  • 06:00 - 8:00 am : Drop off of personal bag ARRIVAL SEMNOZ at UCPA
  • 08:10 am: Briefing of the Half Triathlon event
  • 08h30 : Start of the Half Triathlon for men
  • 08h35 : Start of the Half Triathlon for women
  • 9:00 am - 8:00 pm: Opening of the partners' village.
  • 1:30 pm : Estimation : 1st arrival at the Semnoz summit
  • 03:00 - 09:00 pm: Opening of the transition area to collect your belongings.
  • 07:30 pm: Stopwatch
  • 08:30 pm: Prize-giving ceremony
How do I pick up my number?

For the collection of the numbers, an identity document must be presented. A person, even from another club, can collect the number in your place, provided that you show your identity card and that of the competitor.

The withdrawal of your number is done :

  • Friday June 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the esplanade du lac in Saint-Jorioz.
  • Saturday June 8, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:00 at the esplanade du lac in Saint-Jorioz.
What does the organizer provide?

A swimming cap is provided by the organizer (compulsory), as well as 1 number bib, 1 numbered sticker (bike, helmet...), and 1 "Semnoz" bag. A transponder will be provided and must be returned on arrival. 80€ will be charged for lost or unreturned transponders.

What equipment is allowed?

Swimming: Goggles, neoprene suit (see previous point), cap and nose clip.

Bicycle: A bicycle powered solely by the legs (lower muscular chain) in a circular motion using a crankset without electric or other assistance. Equipment may be checked. Telephones may be used on the bike, but only for GPS or emergency purposes, and never to be called.

Running: Hydration vests are permitted.

What is the mandatory equipment?

Swimming: If the water temperature is below 16°C on the day of the event, the wearing of a swimming suit will be mandatory.

Bicycle: The wearing of a hard shell helmet with the chinstrap adjusted and fastened is compulsory as soon as the bicycle is in hand.

Running: Headlamps must be worn from 8:00 p.m. onwards, regardless of the final running course.

Each participant must have his own cup for the refreshments. No cups will be distributed.

What is the prohibited material?

Swimming: If the water temperature exceeds 24.5°C, wetsuits are not allowed.

Bicycles: Electric-assist pedals and headphones are prohibited. Equipment checks may be carried out.

Running: Headphones and poles are forbidden on all final running courses. This also applies to the companion on the final climb.

Are personal refreshments allowed?

Yes, the organization authorizes personal refreshments only on the running part at KM 16 Sommet Semnoz Solid + liquid + personal.




When can I drop off my equipment?

The deposit of the box (provided by the organization) of transition T1 and T2 is done by your care on the morning of the race on the transition zone between 06h00 and 08h00 on Saturday.

Deposit of the personal bag (provided by the organization) for the arrival at Semnoz at the UCPA Consignes building on Friday between 4pm and 6pm or on Saturday between 6am and 8am.

What is the composition of the supplies?

The composition of the supplies will be communicated to the runners at least 15 days before the event.

Can I be accompanied during the race?

No outside help or accompaniment during the race is allowed (refueling, bike breakdown service...).

Accompanying a family member for a long distance (>100m) is forbidden on the entire course.

Are there any time barriers during the event?

9:35 a.m., i.e. after 1 hour of racing: Swimming is out of the race - after this time, participants will not be allowed to ride their bikes on the course

1:45pm, i.e. after 5 hours and 10 minutes of racing: Disqualification from the race on the bike course in Lescheraines - after this time, participants will have to return directly to Saint Jorioz without completing the entire bike course. They will be disqualified from the race

3:05 pm, i.e. after 6.5 hours of race: Disqualification at the arrival of the bike - after this time, the participants will not be allowed to start the run

7:35 pm, i.e. after 11 hours of racing: Stopwatch - after this time, the finish line will be closed and participants will have to stop their effort.

For each of the out-of-race events, a commissioner of the organization will be present at the out-of-race point. The participants who pass after the time limit will have to give back their number to this steward and they will be considered as out of the race from that moment on. They will then have to reach the finish line by their own means.

Can I receive penalties during my race?

Yes, it is forbidden to take cover behind or next to a competitor or any other vehicle. The overtaking must be done in 25 seconds maximum. The stewards and the organization will be extremely vigilant and will sanction the competitors who do not respect this rule with a blue card, which obliges them to make a stop (penalty box - 5 minutes) during the run. If this is not done, the competitor will be disqualified. The penalty box will be located near the transition park.

Which categories are rewarded?

The following categories will be awarded at the ceremony:

  • The top 3 men in the overall ranking
  • The top 3 women in the overall ranking
  • As well as the top 3 in each age category
  • Prizes will be forfeited in the event of absence from the ceremony.

Are there any race bonuses?

No, there is no race bonus in the Half Triathlon.

Is there a club classification?

Yes, a club ranking will be introduced in 2024.

To participate, you must register your club viale group module when you register.
This ranking will be done by accumulating the points of the club members according to their event and the place of their arrival for the Xtrem (Top or lake). Below the detail of the points by participants:

Xtrem top finisher = 226 + 100 points
Finisher Xtrem Lake = 226 points
Finisher Half = 118 points
Xperience = 36 points

The first 3 clubs will be rewarded at the beginning of the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Where will the results be posted?

You will find the results on our website after your race.

Will there be pictures of the race?

Official photos of each event will be published after the event.

What are the conditions of reimbursement?

The organization offers cancellation insurance via the BETICKETING module. This insurance must be taken out at the time of registration and cannot be taken out at a later date. In the event of unforeseen circumstances on your part, your race number will be reimbursed at 80% of its value within a maximum of 72 hours after the event. It covers all unforeseeable and sudden causes. You may be asked to provide proof that your claim is well-founded.
